【STORY】

Gero Onsen is one of the three famous hot springs in Japan. Even if you are new to hot springs, you will be able to feel the quality of the hot springs, which are gentle on the skin.
50 years ago, Gero Onsen introduced a "hot spring centralized management system" and continues to protect hot spring resources by supplying water without waste.
Since ancient times, this hot spring has been loved by people traveling along the Hida Highway. Many people stop along the way to release their stress and fatigue from their travels. Get to know the hot springs that Japanese people love by walking through the hot spring town, which still retains an old-fashioned atmosphere but is lined with new sweets shops.

Guided by a local born in Gero. They worked in the city once but noticed the charm of Gero Onsen and decided to work in Gero instead. One of the highlights of this plan is that you can meet local people who are acquaintances of the guide.

【DETAILS】

First, listen to an explanation about the characteristics of the water at Gero Onsen and how it differs from other hot springs.

Next, while observing the tanks of hot spring centralized management system and the hot spring water stand, you will learn about the sustainable system for managing Gero Onsen, local life and hot springs in general.

Learn the history of Gero Onsen while walking around the hot spring town. On the way, stop by shops in the hot spring town and visit a footbath. We will give you towels and sweets from Gero Onsen too, so don’t worry and just enjoy.

Afterwards, while walking around the source well near the riverbed, listen to stories about the legend of the discovery of Gero Onsen. Unlike the hot spring town, the riverbed where you walk while listening to the explanation has a pleasant breeze and the mountains are beautiful. You can also see Yugamine, where the source of Gero Onsen used to be.
