【STORY】

[International driver's license required]

“Ise Jingu shrine” is the “spiritual hometown of the Japanese people” and is said to be the place to visit Ise at least once in a lifetime.
Despite being repeatedly relocated over the past 1,300 years, the shrine and its ancient and new forms have been passed down through the generations, and its inside aspires to resemble a museum of Japanese culture.
Okage-Yokocho, just outside the boundaries of the Ise Jingu Inner Shrine, is lined with more than 50 stores selling carefully selected local delicacies and souvenirs of Ise, and you can freely stroll around this area.

Buses and taxes are inconvenient ways of enjoying the attractions of Ise to the full!
Before and after worshipping/walking, why not take a “Sangu-kifuda” (wooden tag) with you to the best spots from the area around Okage-Yokocho to Futami, which only a local guide immersed in knowledge about Ise would be able to tell you about?
The tour takes you along the Isuzu River, which is a sacred river flowing at the foot of the “Ise Jingu/Inner Shrine”, representing the spiritual home of the Japanese people, where you will visit the simple scenery of the rice fields of the gods, which boasts 2,000 years of continuous rice cultivation. You can also enjoy the magnificent mountains and rural landscape of Ise, and visit "Meotoiwa Rocks" in the scenic spot of Futamigaura, where you can experience Japanese “nature worship” culture, in which people both fear and respect nature.
When you are making travel memories with somebody important to you, we hope you will enjoy not only the Jingu shrine and Okage-Yokocho, but also the abundant nature of Ise.

▽Sangu-kifuda
In the past, if visitors held out a “ladle”, they would be supported by the “almsgiving” of the Ise people, who would provide them with food, baths, and water, etc. The Sangu-kifuda is a marker for modern-day almsgiving hospitality, and by handing over a "white ball" at the stopover, visitors can exchange it for one of Ise's specialties.

【HIGHLIGHTS】

  • [International driver's license required] Choose the vehicle you like and visit places you can only go with a small and powerful electric tuk-tuk or bike.
