【STORY】
“Ise Jingu shrine” is the “spiritual hometown of the Japanese people” and is said to be the place to visit Ise at least once in a lifetime.
Despite being repeatedly relocated over the past 1,300 years, the shrine and its ancient and new forms have been passed down through the generations, and its inside aspires to resemble a museum of Japanese culture.
Okage-Yokocho, just outside the boundaries of the Ise Jingu Inner Shrine, is lined with more than 50 stores selling carefully selected local delicacies and souvenirs of Ise, and you can freely stroll around this area.
Enjoying to the full the wonderful attractions that Ise has to offer is inconvenient to do using a bus or taxi!
How about making use of your spare time before or after worshipping/walking to enjoy some prime spots around Okage-Yokocho?
A new travel style to enjoy sightseeing and staying at your own pace with a dedicated map in hand was born in Ise, including photo spots, such as the "stepping stones" upstream of the sacred Isuzu River flowing at the foot of the inner shrine, and enjoy forest bathing under the sparkling sunlight through the path of trees in the “Forest of the Gods”, and greeting the gods for opening the way and the arts.
Take this opportunity to visit not only Jingu Shrine and Okage-Yokocho, but also Ise's great nature and make this trip a memorable one with your loved ones.
*With this plan, you will not be accompanied by a guide. There is also a 150-minute plan, in which you can visit Futami with a guide.

・Eboshi Rock
This place, where there are the Eboshi rocks of the “sacred Isuzu River”, is a place of relaxation for the people of the region. Birds are drawn by the murmuring of the river, and the famous Japanese freshwater "Koi" fish can be seen swimming in the river.
*They are called Eboshi rocks due to the similarity of their shape to “Eboshi” Japanese-style hats, an ancient item of clothing in Japan.
・Stepping stones
This is a special space upstream of the “sacred Isuzu River”. There are “stepping stones”, where you can cross the river by tracking the rocks. The sound of the wind can be heard through the mountains, the murmur of the river, and other voices of nature. As this is a sacred place, it is also popular as a place to take pictures to commemorate wedding ceremonies.
*You cannot go deep into the opposite bank
・Kinmeisui(spring water)
Kinemeisui, which is one source of the “sacred Isuzu River”, is a point where you can fill your personal water bottle with the water flowing out of a small cave. Japan's mountains and forests are home to many water sources that are a blessing of nature, and most of the world's famous sakes are made from the famous waters of each region.
・Sarutahiko Shrine
This is a special place where a “god” is enshrined, believed to be the one who guides people, who wears a mask with a high nose and shoes called "Kogeta." In Japan, many people believe that there is a mystical influence on encounters between people and how things are done, and so they feel both fear and familiarity with the existence of deities, called “Sarutahiko”, who were eventually anthropomorphized and revered in the form of shrines in many places around Japan. Among these, Sarutahiko Shrine in Ise is considered to be exceptional, and is the No. 1 place to go for people who want to start something or meet someone, and many people visit it at important stages of their lives, such as for weddings and the “Shichi-go-san” (7-5-3) festival where they wish for the growth of their children.
