【STORY】

Daisho-in Temple, said to be one of the three most important temples in Japan for getting rid of bad luck and opening the door to good fortune, is the temple with the deepest history of any temple on Miyajima. It is said that Kobo Daishi/Kukai, after returning from Tang Dynasty China, went to Miyajima to practice asceticism at Mt. Misen, and founded the temple in 806.
The temple has deep ties with the imperial family and is a temple of high prestige, having served as a place of prayer at the order of Emperor Toba, as a place of lodging for Emperor Meiji during his excursions, and even for Hideyoshi Toyotomi when he held tea ceremonies here.
Spend a special moment learning about the spirituality that has been passed down for 1,200 years at the Daisho-in Temple, a deeply historical temple on the World Heritage Site of Miyajima.

  From Hiroshima Station, take the JR Sanyo Line to Miyajimaguchi Station (about 30 min.)
  Or take a local train bound for Miyajimaguchi to Miyajimaguchi Station (about 45 min. to 1 hr.)

  From Miyajimaguchi Station, walk about 3 minutes to Miyajimaguchi Pier.
  Take the Miyajima ferry or Matsudai Steamship to Miyajima Pier (approx. 10 min.)
