Ogimi Village lies in northern Okinawa, at the gateway to Yanbaru, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage area. This region is home to globally valued biodiversity, and a way of life rich in living traditions and culture that have been carefully preserved.
Here, the village welcomes you as if they have been looking forward to a family member’s visit.
Spend an evening sharing stories with the local grandpas and grandmas—and perhaps neighbors who drop by—under a sky filled with stars. Enjoy a home-style feast made with Okinawan ingredients, and soak in the warmth of everyday life.
After a restful night, wake up to fresh morning air and greet everyone with a cheerful “Good morning,” feeling as if you truly belong. Help out with simple farm work and fully experience the rhythm of local life.
Before you know it, you will feel like part of the family.

◆About Ogimi Village:
Ogimi Village, Okinawa Prefecture, is one of the world’s leading longevity communities and has been recognized as one of the “Blue Zones,” renowned as one of the world’s five major regions of exceptional longevity.
In 1987, Ogimi declared itself a “Village of Longevity” after being identified as one of Japan’s areas with the highest proportion of elderly residents. In 1996, it was recognized by the WHO (World Health Organization) as the “world’s leading longevity region.”
Ogimi’s longevity is often attributed to three key factors: “staying active for life,” “diet,” and “human connection.”
Even well past 90, many residents continue working in their fields, eating mineral-rich vegetables and seaweeds, and ensuring sufficient protein intake. They laugh often, sing and dance, and support one another while drawing on wisdom cultivated through living alongside rare and precious nature.
In Ogimi, this “ordinary” way of life—simple, yet deeply valuable—still remains.
