Welcome to our 320-year-old traditional farmhouse! Here, you can learn the art of making Onigiri (rice balls) featuring the traditional preserved flavors of Wakasa.

Since ancient times, the Wakasa region has been known as "Miketsukuni," a land of abundance that supplied high-quality ingredients to the imperial capital of Kyoto. To this day, the local lifestyle remains deeply rooted in these traditions, from fresh seafood to unique fermented specialties.

The history of Onigiri dates back over 2,000 years; carbonized remains of rice balls have even been discovered in ancient ruins. Originally used as military rations, by the Edo period—when this farmhouse was built—Onigiri had become a popular meal for both samurai and farmers alike. Today, it is celebrated as one of Japan’s most iconic dishes.

Your experience starts with selecting your favorite fillings from a variety of local specialties. Our friendly staff will guide you through the process step-by-step, ensuring you enjoy learning the authentic way to shape your Onigiri. Once ready, your creations will be served as a special lunch plate, complete with the cafe’s signature side dishes.
