In the old tea room built in the late Edo period, you can enjoy authentic matcha green tea and sweets.
It is important to get a sense of the season in a Japanese tea ceremony, so you will enjoy the scenery of the garden and be served seasonal sweets.
It is also an entirely private experience, so you can sit back and relax.
Enjoy the Japanese tradition by participating in a tea ceremony. You can learn about the origin of the "spirit of hospitality'' of the Japanese people. About two hundred years ago, at the end of the Edo period, Taiseian was built at Horyuji Zenzouin by the great monk Kakugen of Horyuji Temple. It was subsequently relocated to its current location. According to the records of Horyuji Temple, Kakugen, who was familiar with the tea ceremony, sent letters to his fellow monks, invited them to enjoy tea at the tea room. Wouldn't you like a taste of green tea at such a historic tea room of Horyuji Temple?
