Painting your Kokeshi Doll at Its Birthplace in Aomori

【OUTLINE】

This plan enables you to enjoy the history, sightseeing, and cuisine of Kuroishi City in Aomori Prefecture as a whole. What you can experience are; painting Kokeshi doll, a traditional industry in Kuroishi City, visiting Nakano Shrine located in the middle of Nakao Momiji Mountain, and for lunch eating the locals' favorite food, 'Kuroishi Tsuyu Yakisoba' that once took the 7th place in B-1 Gourmet competition. Here is the only place where you can experience traditional folk culture unique to Kuroishi!

【DETAILS】

You will paint a Kokeshi doll, a traditional industry in Kuroishi City in Aomori Prefecture, famous as the birthplace of Tsugaru style Kokeshi.
Check-in at Tsugaru Traditional Craft Center and you will go to Tsugaru Kokeshikan. Kokeshi has long been carried on not only as a children's toy but also as a lucky item. Being made of wood and having a warm and rustic feeling of a hand-made article, Kokeshi attracts lots of fans at home and abroad.
In this plan, you can experience painting your original Kokeshi, only one in the world.
After the Kokeshi painting experience, you will go to Nakano Shrine located in the middle of Nakano Momiji Mountain by taxi. Worship at the shrine and have a comfortable walking surrounded by rich nature.
Then you will return to Tsugaru Traditional Craft Center and have lunch. The locals' favorite, 'Kuroishi Tsuyu Yakisoba,' refers to flat fat noodles fried and on which special Japanese soup is poured. 

Here is the only place where you can experience traditional fold culture unique to Kuroishi!
You can take a foot bath free of charge. The water is taken from Ochiai Onsen hot spring in Tsugaru Traditional Craft Center.
In addition to the Kokeshi painting, you can watch the demonstrations by traditional craftsmen from Tsugaru inside the Craft Center. 

The Center houses a shop selling local products, workshops, restaurant, and multipurpose halls.
You can spend another fun time here after the tour finished.
