Experience the world of kabuki at the oldest kabuki theatre in Japan which has been in use for the past 180 years. Kabuki has unique acting performances. Receive the lecture on the signature pose of the main character, and actually strike the pose yourself.
In the optional plan, You will be dressed up in the brilliant and beautiful kimono. Also wear ‘kumadori,’ the unique flashy make-up peculiar to kabuki. As you take photos inside the important cultural properties, you can capture the moment into the photos that will last in your memories.

① Visit the Konpira Grand Theatre, Kanamaru-za
You can visit the oldest kabuki theatre in Japan which has been used for 180 years and look all over the theatre. You can also enter the back-stage area of the theatre and take photos. All the stage settings of this theatre filled with the sentiment of Edo period (1603-1868) are operated manually. You will be astonished to see the wooden stage which has been in use for 180 years.

② Experience the signature pose of kabuki
The main character strikes a stationary pose and freezes for a moment when emotions reach a climax in the story. The technique is called ‘mie wo kiru’ which works to impress the audience like a stop motion. Receive a genuine lecture and you yourself strike the cool pose of the main character.

③ Take photos while strolling around the Konpira onsen resort
Why not stroll around the nearby onsen resort area wearing the vivid flashy kabuki makeup?(Kabuki makeup is optional plan)
Take photos in kabuki makeup against the scenic spots that will liven up your Instagram feed. Also available is a photo session wearing the real kabuki costume and kabuki mask, if you like. Admire the gorgeous kabuki costume so beautiful as you let go an admiring sigh.

④ Experience kabuki makeup(Optional plan)
Kabuki is a performing art consisting of singing and dancing with the history of over 400 years. Experience ‘kumadori,” the vivid and elaborate makeup symbolizing kabuki. Kabuki actors draw colorful pattern on their face to exaggerate blood vessels and muscles to add impact to facial expressions. Each color has a meaning; for example, red signifies youth, justice and strength. Blue implies evil scheme and vengeful ghost. And brown represents yokai (specter).
