①Private Sea Kayak in Tomonoura
Price: 20,000 yen (tax included) per person

Embark on a private sea kayaking adventure guided by an expert, exploring the scenic spots around Abuto Kannon and Sensuijima. The Kannon Hall, constructed between 1570 and 1573, is an Important Cultural Property of Japan, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the ocean. It is even said to have inspired characters in a Studio Ghibli film. The panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea from here will surely leave a lasting impression. Sensuijima, a spiritual island, is renowned for its ancient, untouched nature and derives its name from the phrase “an island so beautiful that even hermits would get drunk on its beauty.” Paddle through the ancient coastline and, at times, slip through narrow rock passages for a thrilling kayaking experience.

②Houmeishu Sake Brewery Tour & Tasting
Price: 10,000 yen (tax included) per person

Take a guided tour and experience a sake tasting at a brewery with a 150-year tradition of producing Houmeishu, a medicinal sake from Tomonoura. Houmeishu is made by steeping 16 varieties of spices in mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine), a tradition that dates back to 1659 when it was first created by Yoshibei Nakamura, a Chinese medicine doctor in Osaka. During the tour at Okamoto Kametaro Main Store, you’ll get a rare glimpse into the careful brewing process. Afterward, enjoy a tasting of this unique sake, where the harmonious balance of deep spice aromas and the sweetness of mirin offers a truly special flavor experience.
