Ishikawa Prefecture is home to three distinct lacquerware traditions, each with its unique specialty:

Yamanaka: Masterful wood-turning techniques ("Kiji no Yamanaka")
Wajima: Exquisite lacquer application ("Nuri no Wajima")
Kanazawa: Delicate gold decoration ("Makie no Kanazawa")
