【What is Shiobara Onsen Imperial Villa Memorial Park?】
Shiobara Onsen Imperial Villa Memorial Park preserves the original “Tenno-no-Ma” (Emperor’s Room) from the former Shiobara Imperial Villa.
From the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras, members of the Imperial Family—including Emperor Taisho, Emperor Showa, Prince Takamatsu, and Prince Mikasa—visited and stayed here as a summer retreat.
In 1981, the “Tenno-no-Ma” was carefully relocated to its current site and preserved in its original form.
This authentic single-story wooden structure, built in the refined Sukiya architectural style, features a precise modular construction method developed by the Imperial Household Agency.
Today, it is designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Tochigi Prefecture.
