You can easily experience a tea ceremony in an authentic Japanese-style room within a short walk from the Thunder Gate of Sensoji Temple. You can come into the room with your shoes on. If you do not like sitting on the floor, don't worry; you can sit on a chair.

First, the instructor will give you an introduction to the history and spirit of the tea ceremony, instruct you on how to use the utensils, and teach you the typical flow of the tea ceremony. The instructor will explain in English for international visitors.

You will have the opportunity to enjoy Japanese sweets before your matcha tea comes.
After that, you will try to prepare Matcha tea yourself. Prepare the Matcha according to your instructor's directions. They will also teach you how to drink your tea in order to enjoy it in the traditional way.

Feel free to take photos during your experience. The pictures you take here will become precious memories that you can share with your friends and family back home.
